(upbeat instrumental music) [onscreen text] Fun Ways to Feed Your Cat. [onscreen action] Picture of cat standing by couch. Woman petting and playing with cat on and by a bed. [Narrator] Sometimes your cat can get bored just lying around the house. Fortunately there are some things you can do to bring some excitement into his day-to-day life. Cats are natural hunters. In the wild they forage for every meal, so you can help your cat recapture some of his inner tiger by making him work for his food. Here are some ideas. [onscreen action] Man adding food to food puzzles with cat on counter nearby. Cat playing with food puzzles. [Narrator] First, consider some interactive toys. These toys are sometimes called food puzzles. As your cat plays with the toy, it'll randomly reward him with bits of food. Plus, these interactive toys will stimulate your cat with their movements. [onscreen action] Woman adding food to cup. Woman tossing some catfood on the ground by table. [Narrator] Now if you feed your cat dry food, there's no reason why he can't do a bit of hunting for it, so rather than feeding your cat from a dish, toss a small handful of kibble on the floor and let your cat search for it. Scattering his food about will allow your cat to tune into his natural desire to hunt. [onscreen action] Woman putting stray bits of cat food all over her house. [Narrator] You can also make the game more challenging by hiding your cat's kibble all over the house in different locations. Put some up high and some down low. [onscreen action] Cat searching for and finding cat food around house. [Narrator] Once your cat gets used to hunting for his food, start to select more difficult places to hide it. Providing your cat with the thrill of the hunt is a great way to keep him active and enrich his life by adding some fun into his day.
