Personality: Curious, Hesitant, Inquisitive, Nervous, Playful, Smart, Sweet.

Favorite treats: BUGS! At first we offered live and he loved them but is now afraid of them so we stick with the crunchy ones. .

Current Diet: High Quality Hedgehog Food

Favorite toys and activities: Samwise is the poop boot champion and loves his wheel! .

Potty trained: Will be updated soon.

This animal’s daily routine: He has been on twice daily oral meds almost the entire time while in rescue, so he is pretty used to morning foot baths and evening snuggle time for trust training.

BFF: This animal prefers to live alone.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Has been visited by dogs and cats through the cage, he just curls up.

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? None

Health concerns: Samwise came into rescue after being found outside in cold temps. He likely went into a false hibernation causing him to go into a temporary shock like state. This caused him to be unsteady on his feet along side this, he suffered puncture wounds on his underbelly likely from an animal bite while in this state. He will be done with this course of antibiotics on 10/11/24

Behavioral concerns: When Samwise entered rescue, he was by far the friendliest and sweetest hedgehog! Soon after we found several wounds and started oral medications. Once he started becoming physically better, we started seeing that typical sassy grouchy hedgehog behavior so Samwise is now in our trust training program for his shyness.

Samwise was found outside & brought to MNPPR for care.
