Hi, I'm Devil Went Down to Georgia, a shy but sweet rat. I'm pretty smart too, if I do say so myself. I've got two pals here, but I'm always open to making more. I'm a simple guy, really. My favorite pastime? Munching on Cheerios. There's just something about that wholesome, oaty crunch that makes my day. When I'm not snacking, I'm usually playing hide and seek with my friends. I'm pretty good at it, thanks to my shy nature. But don't worry, once I get to know you, I'll come out of my shell. Adopt me for a good listener and loyal friend.

Notes from his foster - He has allowed scratches around his ears and head and petting down his back, then lets me know when he’s had enough! When I have had to pick him up he goes completely limp with no struggle. He jumps up on my lap for treats. Explores the area when out for playtime. The only one I’ve seen boggling.

Personality: Curious, Friendly toward humans, Friendly toward other animals, Hesitant, Sweet

Favorite treats: Gerber baby puffs, cooked oatmeal, Honey Nut Cheerios.

Current Diet: Oxbow Essentials Adult Rat Food, Fruit, Veggies, Cooked oatmeal and cooked eggs.

Favorite toys and activities: Chews on thin chew sticks. Likes the shelters and hammocks. Seems to enjoy free roam time.

Potty trained: Litter box trained.

This animal’s daily routine: He gets breakfast and dinner. Free roam time is late afternoon.

BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): Knocking on Heaven's Door, Stairway to Heaven, & Devil Went Down to Georgia are a bonded trio and must be adopted together.

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? None

Health concerns: He has had 2 courses of antibiotics for URI since coming in to the rescue. He is not on any maintenance medications.

Behavioral concerns: Devil Went Down To Georgia is nervous and unsure of humans. He does not trust people and does not want to be held. He will sniff his foster's hands and gently move them out of the way when they try to pick him up or give him treats. He hides when they open his enclosure's door. Update 8/19: He is sweet and jumps up on his foster's lap and stays there to eat his oatmeal treat during free roam time.

Knocking on Heaven's Door, Stairway to Heaven, & Devil Went Down to Georgia came to MNPPR when their previous owner was no longer able to keep up with care.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. This animal's foster parent prefers to meet at the PetSmart - 18050 Zane St NW, Elk River, MN 55330 for meet & greets, & adoptions.
