Thank you so much for inquiring about adopting from my rescue! 

I’ve attached an adoption application to this email. If you could please fill it out and send it back to me that would be great! It just gives me a better idea of your experience with small pets and what you are looking to adopt specifically. For rats I do ask that potential adopters send photos of their enclosure setup (or photos of the setup they intend on using). For cage requirements the only real requirement is that the cage is at minimum 2 square feet per rat, and that the bar spacing is appropriate for rats so that they cannot escape (I do not recommend housing rats in tanks as it can predispose them to developing respiratory issues). If you’ve never owned rats before I can send you a care guide that I have created that you can reference when gathering supplies :) 

I do usually require that rats are adopted in at least same sex pairs (sometimes trios depending on adopter preference). I generally do not allow adopters to adopt male and female rats together; even if they are going to be kept in separate areas of the house. I do ask for a $20 adoption donation per rat, all proceeds go back to the rescue and the animals. 

My rescue is located in Howell, NJ. Typically I send photos to adopters of the rats that I have that are available and they reserve their favorite, most people meet their rats and take them home the same day. Some adopters choose to visit with the rats before selecting the ones they want to take home, which is completely fine! Right now I have several groups of both male and female baby rats (ranging from 5 weeks to 8 weeks old) that need homes. Some are ready to go to new homes by the end of the week, the 5 week olds will have to stay with me for another few weeks.
