Avocado and Salsa Guinea Pig Short-Haired Newberg, OR

This is quite the lovely pair of bonded female guinea pigs. Salsa (tricolor) we believe is about 8 months old and Avocado (white) is about 1 year old.

Salsa is a very squeaky girl which makes Avocado seem very quiet. They both love hay/alfala cubes with flower petals in them, not fans of just wooden sticks or plain hay/ alfalfa cubes. They both love their hay tunnel and fleece hides. They also like enrichment toys like stacking cups with treats in between them. They like to have 2 piles of hay one for eating and one of more like a potty spot. The eating hay I put in a container and the potty hay is just on the ground. They squeak every morning for their vitamin C treat and fruits/veggies. They both love romaine lettuce, spinach, cucumbers, celery, kale, and strawberries. Salsa loves bell peppers(fitting right?) and Avocado loves apples and carrots. They tip over their pellet bowls constantly so maybe get one that can secure to the floor or side of their cage. They love cuddles and will “fight” over who can be closest to the neck of the person holding them. They like to give friendly nibbles and licks, they have never once shown any sort of aggression towards each other or people. They love to sit outside and munch on grass and dandelions (in an enclosed area of course). I highly recommend getting their pellets and treats from oxbow and avoiding any sort of treats, chews, or edible hides that are dyed. These girls would be great with older kids as they do like to be handled but just not too much (no more than an hour a day) and have showed no fear of the dogs or cat in their foster home.

Salsa and Avocado have had a vet appointment where they received clean bills of health aside from an ear infection which has since been treated!
