Meet Pumpkin

Pumpkin is white with black-gray brindle patches over her eyes and 3 patches on her body. She has bright blue eyes. She was born July 18, 2024. Pumpkin and her 8 siblings were removed from a home due to neglect, came to HART from a shelter in Kentucky to help them find their forever homes. The father is a pure Austrian Shepard Blue Heeler that weighs 45 lbs. The mother is said to be a Lab mix that weighs 50 Lbs. Pumpkin is much smaller than most of her siblings, at 16 weeks old, she only weighed 9 pounds when some of the others siblings weighed 18 pounds. She is in excellent health.

Pumpkin is a spunky confident, fun loving pup. She likes to be near her companions. She likes children, adults, and other dogs. She enjoys playing tug of war and keep away as well as wrestling with her siblings and other dogs. She has been around 5 adult larger dogs during play dates. She has been around 5 younger children (4-11 years old) and takes harsh handling well.

She warms up to other dogs fast and likes to play with them. Pumpkin likes to have her belly rubbed. She also loves to lay on you lap while you watch TV, and she does give kisses. She is an affectionate pup. She rides well in the car. Has started walking on a lead, but needs additional training.

Pumpkin is crate trained, and working on house training. The cool weather didn’t deter her from going outside. Her activity level is about average, plays for an hour or 2 and then rest/sleeps and hour or so as most puppies. She sleeps through the night in her crate (9:30 to 6:30) without protest, if she hears stirring near 6 he’ll start making noise to go out.

She enjoys chew toys, tug-of-war, chewing on sticks, and playing with other dogs. She is highly food motivated, so training should be easy.

Pumpkin would do best with a fenced yard, as she loves to wonder around stiffing and playing in the flower beds or anything she can find. If you think Pumpkin could be a good fit, submit an application and the foster will bring him to your house for a visit.
