Meet Vinca
Name: Vinca
Age: 9 months (as of 2/24/18)
Activity Level: Medium - High
Things I do in my free time: Chew on toys, cuddle, & run
Things I know: Name, sit, down, come, crate trained, potty-trained, the it's your choice game
Things I am working on: jumping, mouthing, & sharing toys
Kids: She can get overly excited and jump in faces, so a controlled interaction is highly recommended
Dogs: Fine with proper introductions and supervision. Vinca sometimes can get possessive of toys and want the toy another dog has
Cats: Vinca does well with cats as long as she is supervised. She doesn’t understand that cats don’t like to play with her as much as dogs do. As long as you say “Vinca, no” she responds very well and leaves them alone. We worked on creating boundaries between her and the cat and were successful. There isn’t any reason she wouldn’t do well in a home with a cat(s)
Size: Approximately 40 pounds
Car rides: Vinca usually does well. She will lay down and sleep.
Additional info from foster parent: Vinca is a smart, loving, strong-headed beautiful girl who is very curious and willing to try new things. She has a high drive to chase and tug and is very food-motivated. However, she can be very vocal at times while playing so it is pertinent to be able to read body language to understand when it is time for her to stop. She does well in her crate and is able to make it through the whole work day and sleeps peacefully through the night there (sometimes she cries at first for a little bit though as she thinks she should be in bed with you).
Disclaimer: She WILL test you if you are not consistent with your training requirements. She loves to cuddle and be close. She really enjoys being able to curl up under the blanket next to you. This can make it hard not to give into her bad behaviors. She is still working on not jumping on people upon each greeting and can be mouthy with moving limbs, playing, and in an overly excited state. She also likes to get in your face and lick you. However, Vinca can be very successful in the right situation with constant and consistent structure. A solid training plan will be beneficial in making this happen and would probably be a lot of fun (for both you & Vinca!)
