Other Info: Maddie is one of the sweetest dogs here, but unfortunately she has one of the saddest stories. Maddie was considered the "neighborhood stray" for most of her life...she would make the rounds to people's houses, visit for a while, then when they could not keep her forever she's be on her way. She had unknown numbers of puppies, and unfortunately no one knows what happened to them. Maddie was eventually taken in by a kind person who cared for her and brought her here to look for a new home. They said that, during the 2 weeks she spent with her, Maddie was an absolute sweet heart. She was easy to crate train indoors, had excellent house manners, and even loved going for walks on a leash and rides in the car! When Maddie arrived here at the shelter, we found out that on TOP of being emaciated and having hairloss from years of fleas, she is also heart worm positive. We are all in love with Maddie and do NOT want to give up on her, but we know that most people don't want to adopt a skinny black dog with heart worms. We are going to try and raise the money to have her treated for heart worms and are desperately looking for a great place for her to go when she's done. Maddie will need to be primarily INDOORS. We know that, in exchange for a loving new home, Maddie will give you a lifetime of love and loyalty. Please give her a chance!
