Meet Cooper ADOPTED!
UPDATE: Cooper continues to do well, getting stronger, and is loving and happy.
He is very prey driven, so should not be off leash outside of a fenced area. Personally, I feel all dogs should always be in an enclosed area if not leashed.
He has had plenty of interest in him, but is waiting for the right home.......
Cooper is very active and bouncy, bites the air when excited and races around with excitement. and he is very mouthy, as are many St. Poodles. Small children could easily be hurt, so we are looking for a home with no children under the age of 16.
UPDATE.Cooper continues to get better and more social and is listening much better. He is very playful, but rough play, so needs a big dog playmate, that loves to play. He can go up and down carpeted steps and steps that go outside. He is quieter in the car, if he starts barking his foster mom shows him the dreaded spray bottle and he settles down. He is easy to groom, very loving. He needs a home that loves the breed, who is patient and who will take and active part in his life and his continuing social improvement. He would learn a lot for obedience class, his recall isn't good, because he focuses on critters in the yard or the next yard and loves to run the fence with the dog next door.
Cooper will turn 4 in November of this year. He was given up by his owner because they were working a lot and felt he needed a home where he would get more attention.
Cooper is a typical St. Poodle, in that he loves to play, likes people and other dogs,
His left leg was amputated when he was just a year old, because he saw something moving and jumped out of the car window, just as it was being parked. His leg was damaged beyond repair so was removed.
He hasn't been exercised in a while, so his leg isn't as strong as it should be, so he will need a home that will walk him everyday, starting slow, and building up the distance. His former home didn't have any steps or stairs, so he is just now learning how to go up and down a few stairs.
I don't really consider Cooper special needs but he does need a home that is very dog savvy, he needs a companion dog to bond with, and a home with only a few steps.
He can jump up on the bed, but needs to be helped down, to protect his good front leg.
NO CATS & no small dogs. He has never killed a cat but can become obsessed with them, so best that there are no cats in the home.
He is loving, sweet, playful, when excited, he will mouth or "air snap", not an intentional bite, but could hurt a child. Cooper will make a great companion for the right family.
Cooper's adoption fee is $400.00
He is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered, micro chipped and has a collar and leash. He eats Fromm kibble along with some canned food.
I would love to find a family that enjoys cooking for their dog, just for some extra tasty food.
