Dolly is a truly remarkable soul. This girl has a loving, trusting energy that emanates from her and warms everyone she meets. Dolly is 9 years old and about 40 lbs. We rescued her from a family that was about to dump her because she had gone blind. She had one of her eyes removed last year, and while she can't see she gets around very well... she just bumps into things once in a while and needs some guidance.
Dolly absolutely loves being outside and going for walks. She walks well on a leash and even tries to run around and jog... but needs help taking it slow so she doesn't run into things. She absolutely lights up when anyone touches her -- she flips over on her back and grunts and snorts with glee when you pet her and give her belly rubs. She is extremely gentle and instantly befriends every stranger she meets. She likes to play with tennis balls, she chases them by sound, and she gets a real kick out of playing tug of war with pull toys. Because she can't see and comes from a trouble past, she is nervous around other dogs (except for seeing eye dogs, interestingly) but would probably be very happy with a mellow doggy companion as long as they were introduced properly.
Another thing that makes Dolly stand out is her incredible smile! She is always smiling, an outward reflection of her inner happiness and resilience. She is not picky at all with food or treats and will eat pretty much anything you put in front of her, but her favorite snack is apples -- they drive her nuts! She is completely housebroken and knows basic commands, too. Please give this amazing girl a change! Dolly's inner puppy is looking for a kindred spirit.
Her foster dad says: "Dolly is a very resilient loving loyal and goofy girl. She’s been through a lot, but that does not prevent her from living each moment of her life to the fullest. Her favorite activity is napping (obviously) but when she is awake she loves to explore her surroundings. When inside she likes to be close to her human. Because of her sight, she relies on her human’s touch to let her know that everything is all right. She is quite fearless and uses her nose (for both smelling and touching/bumping) to navigate the world around her. She loves to go on walks and navigates paths and trails without a problem. She is also pretty comfortable going up a few stairs (I always supervise her, and she uses her nose to feel for the next step. Of course, she needs help going down). She is remarkably patient with people and loves to be petted. She loves adults and kids and she will sit for her treat and take them very gently (snorting loudly to show you her appreciation). Her go to move is to lean on your leg as she sits down and then roll over for a joyous belly rub and snortfest. She loves to snack on bully sticks/raw hide and apples. Dolly is very house trained and waits for her human patiently at home, napping until they come back. She loves riding in cars with the windows down. Dolly is a low maintenance pet and truly appreciates any kind of love she is shown and returns it with exuberance and devotion."
