Meet Ben
Ben came in with Annie, his sibling. They will not be adopted together and are somewhere in the neighborhood of 8-12 months. They both had a rough start in life. He was a court ordered surrender to a shelter. We suspect, due to neglect. Through all those mats, dirt, stones and feces, was one scared little doggie. Coming to us at just about 25 pounds, he should have been far larger than that at almost a year old. We had no choice but to shave him down completely. With two brown eyes, a completely white head with typical Old English coloring and a sweet teddy bear face, this little one will be absolute gorgeous when his fur starts to grow out. He has received medication for hookworms and coccidian, along with all his shots, neutering, microchipping, bordetella, flea and heartworm meds. Working on nutrition he has gained a few pounds and improved his muscles with exercise. Our vet feels that due to his poor start, he will always remain on the small side. That is perfect, a petite boy sheepie! What he now needs is a person to stand up and be his protector, his teacher, his friend. In other words, Ben needs a hero who will take on the challenge of working with this little guy and turning him into the best boy sheepdog ever. He will need to go to a home that has a fence, lots of time to spend with him, leash train and play with him. He needs someone willing to build his confidence in humans because up to this point, he has not had many fine examples of people in his short months of life. Ben is very timid and was scared of everything when he came to his foster home. That is improving, but he still is scared of new individuals, new noises and experiences. Of the two, Ben is the more outgoing, but he has a long way to go. He needs a calm, patient person to guide him and help him to develop into the sweet boy he was always meant to be. If you are interested in being Ben's hero, please give us a call and we can talk more about this little teddy bear.
