Meet Tanner

Please note: since the original bio was written, Tanner was injured in foster care and now only has one eye. He is still a wonderful pet but we had to remove the injured, bleeding eye when he ran into a sharp object in the back yard of his foster home. He is now putting weight on his back leg and he goes for walks daily.
Tanner was found running injured and loose on the mean streets of Memphis by a Good Samaritan.  Suffering from a fractured femur head, he was limping but happy to be rescued.  After evaluating the injury for two weeks we opted to have surgery done and he is currently recovering from surgery.
Tanner, despite his injury, is one happy, loving, well-adjusted little guy.  He loves to play with his foster siblings and takes every step his foster mom does.  He LOVES lap time and sleeps in the bed with his foster mom--no is not an option to this little fella.
Tanner is small, weighing in at only 10 lbs.  His silky white coat will require routine grooming, as any Maltese owner knows.  He is house trained.  Tanner is current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, neutered, microchipped, and on preventives.
Tanner's best home will have a securely fenced yard (he is small, so NO weak spots/holes), excellent vet care history for previous/current pets, children over 8 with excellent doggy manners, and prior breed experience will be given preference.

His adoption fee is $200.  .

AN ADOPTION FEE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS PET.
If you are interested in adopting, have a look at our adoption website, read the online adoption agreement, complete the online adoption application, and submit it. Unless otherwise specified above in the dog's bio, adoption fees are $150.

If you are unable to adopt at this time, you may sponsor the care of this pet.

We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
