Our Mission
Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving life for all animals by providing shelter, compassionate care, community assistance and education. Founded in 1912 in Gloucester, Virginia, GMHS provides services for people in the Peninsula, Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck through adoptions, educational programs, a pet pantry and low-cost spay/neuter clinic.
Adoption Policy
We want to make the best connection for your family, and we are committed to finding that best match for you.
One of the first steps is to visit our shelter during business hours, which is Tuesday to Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM. Once you have visited with a pet, you can then submit an application for adoption.
