The Afghan Stray Animal League
Our Mission
Our sole mission is to rescue, shelter, care for and find homes for homeless, needy, sick and injured animals in Afghanistan. We operate a small private vet clinic and shelter there and we charge no fees. we have two full time veterinarians and all animals that come to us are vaccinated and sterilized. Most of our rescued animals are street dog and cats. we find homes for as many as we can. We also treat injured and abused working horses and donkeys. We euthanize animals only if they are gravely sick or injured.
Adoption Policy
We use our website and personal contacts among animal lovers to let people know when we have a new dog or cat available for adoption. We send out photos and descriptions on the website and to lists of friends and supporters. Once the animals arrive in the US, we work with several foster and kennel facilities that can arrange meetings with potential adopters. We also take animals to meet potential adopters ourselves and visit their homes to make sure they suitable. We also ship animals home to many people who have rescued them during international service.
