4 Legged Friends
Our Mission
Lori Crum- the founders of 4 Legged Friends of Lubbock. The copious amounts of euthanasians brought into animal hospitals every day is heartbreaking to say the least, and we are driven to do something about it. With dogs being euthanized for behavior issues, owners relocating, and lack of financial means to care for them- these canines need a real advocate. Thus, in October of 2013, we started out small by rescuing dogs through our own homes. With years of hard work, determination and support, we have since expanded and grown our rescue and have currently taken in and rehomed over 500, 4 legged friends.
4 Legged Friends has had the opportunity to branch out and help through our Senior’s for Seniors and spay/neuter programs. We are a 501c3 non-profit and are fully funded by donations.
In our program we focus on preparing our dogs to be the best fit for their new families. We do this by working on the “whole dog”. We start with elevations, vetting, physical wellbeing, then work with their enrichment, socialization and structure as well as helping with any anxiety or fears. Often people chose a dog by their looks, however we adopt the dog best suited for the family’s lifestyles and place our dogs in the best home for the dog’s needs.
The game changer for 4-Legged Friends adoption program began February of 2019. This is when we were chosen to become a rescue partner with Project freedom Ride. This opened adoption avenues in the Pacific north west and some areas on the east coast. We work with two other sister rescues within Project freedom ride, Paw pals of Hale center and Second Chance of Snyder Texas. PFR has helped with transportation of over 3500 dogs and hundreds of cats, through fundraising, networking, and pure passion.
We feel it takes a village and a lot of people behind the scenes to save each, and every dog. Starting from the person who picked up the stray/lost dog, sharing on social media posts, to the veterinarians then to our rescue, and finally the sweet day of getting them to their forever families. Everyone can make a difference. No part is too small, 1 post,1share,1 like can save a dog’s life.
