Karnes County Humane Organization
Our Mission
KCHO is not a shelter facility, but works to place dogs and cats in safe rescues. We have enjoyed great sucess in our outreach. Before the creation of KCHO, the rural town shelter had no resources, and the live release rate was typically 5% out of 275 dogs per year. Standard hold time for the shelter is 3 days. The live release rate has now increased to 99%. The Karnes County Humane Organization provides each homeless pet with medical care that includes vaccinations, spaying/neutering and heartworm testing.
