The Jayne H Boswell Animal Shelter is a collaborative effort between the City of Florence and the Florence Area Humane Society. Together, we operate the facility located at 1434 Mccurdy Road, Florence, SC 29506.Â

We have an ample selection of dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens. All of our animals are vaccinated, wormed, and when age appropriate, tested for heartworms.Â
South Carolina Law requires that all animals adopted from an animal shelter must be spayed or neutered to help control pet overpopulation. Many of our animals are already altered, or arrangements will be made to use the vet of your choice or the low-cost clinic in Florence, SNIP.Â
Volunteer Orientation is held the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10:30 at our shelter. We welcome families of all ages; however, we do require volunteers to be 16 years of age or older to be in our facility without a parent/guardian.Â

Adoption Policy
Thanks for your interest in adopting a pet from the Florence Area Humane Society! Please complete an online pre-adoption application at www.florencehumanesociety.org/adopt. All applications are reviewed by a FAHS team member and approved applications are notified by the reviewer. Approved applicants will be asked to come to the shelter facility, meet the pet, and complete the adoption paperwork.

Cats and Kittens are $85
