Animal Care Sanctuary
Our Mission
Animal Care Sanctuary was founded as a non-profit organization by Lesley Sinclair in 1967 in Toms River, NJ. After outgrowing her operation in a converted chicken farm there, Sinclair moved to rural East Smithfield, PA in 1982. Ms. Sinclair passed away in 1998, leaving a legacy to care for the animals at the organization which she founded.
Our mission is to find our animals loving homes not only by rehoming owner surrendered animals but by rescuing other animals whose lives are hanging in the balance at shelters across the country.
Animal Care Sanctuary is home to approximately 30 dogs and over 150 hundred cats.
Most of our animals are adoptable and our goal is to find them happy homes. Our Animal Caregivers provide love and care to each animal and continually monitor their health and behavior. We are always looking for volunteers to walk dogs, play with kittens, handle cats or attend events.
Our animals come from various situations, some are owner surrenders and others are transfers in. We are not a breed specific rescue and rescue pets of different sizes and ages.
All of our adoptable dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped prior to leaving ACS. Our adoptable pets are listed on our website and updated often. We routinely follow up on our adopted pets to ensure their transition into new homes is going as smoothly as possible.
