Columbiana County Dog Pound & Adoption Center
Our Mission
We are a County Dog Shelter with a staff of dog lovers working hard to help pair every adoptable dog in our care with the appropriate family for them. We do our best to help every wayward dog find a loving family to join. Most of our dogs come to the pound as strays and go unclaimed by their families. In these cases, we don't always have background information to provide. We also take in dogs from neglect/abuse cases and owner surrenders from Columbiana County. We also occasionally take in dogs transferred to us by other shelters that reach out for help.
Our dogs receive routine vaccinations, deworming, are spayed or neutered and microchipped prior to being adopted out. We also seek veterinary care and treatment for dogs that arrive at our shelter sick or injured because every good dog deserves a chance to live, even if they need a little extra care than others. We do, on very rare occasions have to euthanize dogs with severe aggression issues that are not safe to place back into the community or dogs with severe medical and quality of life issues.
We strive to keep our shelter environment clean and our dogs happy! All of our dogs get kuranda beds with clean blankets every day.
If you're interested in donating a kuranda bed or bed repair kit, please use the following link to donate directly to our shelter: https://shelterbeds.org/donate/21242
If you would like to donate towards our ever-growing vet bill, checks can be made out to CCDP and mailed to 8455 County Home Road, Lisbon, OH 44432. If you would prefer to donate directly to one of the clinics we use, please contact us at (330)424-6663 ext 1757 for more info on how to do so.
Adoption Policy
At CCDP, all of our dogs & puppies are spayed/neutered prior to adoption unless a medical concern arises and our vet will not clear the dog/puppy for surgery. Our dogs are also microchipped, up to date on routine vaccinations, dewormed and will be issued a current Columbiana County Dog License. Our adoption fee is $152. Our adoption fee and what is included in your adoption fee is non-negotiable.
We require ALL dogs & puppies adopted from our shelter be house dogs. We do not make exceptions for this rule. These dogs deserve better than many of them came from. Any dog discovered to be living outdoors after adoption will be immediately seized. You will not receive the dog or your adoption fee back.
Our application/adoption contract is filled out and signed in person, upon adoption. We may require additional background checks depending on the dog. This helps us keep our dogs from situations where the end up with previos owners they were removed from (Yes, people that neglect dogs send people to try to get them back sometimes).
