Our Mission
VISION
To help rescue more animals, more quickly, by working in a positive, professional and collaborative way with our community.
MISSION
Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue is a positive, professional 501c3 rescue organization that helps our community and shelter partners save more animals, more quickly by rescuing them, temporarily caring for them in our excellent, supportive foster homes and matching them with fantastic adopted pet parents.
MORE ABOUT US
Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue is one of the nation’s largest foster based animal rescue organizations, with major bases of operation in both Ohio and New York City, serving a large section of the midwest and northeast. As a professional 501c3 rescue organization we collaborate with volunteers, fosters, animal welfare partners, and shelters to rescue animals in need and place them in our temporary foster care. We place a high priority on the quality of care, including both medical and behavioral support, for all of our animals. We also value and honor the contributions of the hundreds of wonderful people and organizations who support Louie’s Legacy in our lifesaving work.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. We do hold weekly adoption events though so to see which animals are attending event, please visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy
Adoption Policy
To adopt a pet, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our dogs and cats come spayed or neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations (including rabies), microchipped, dewormed, and treated for any medical issues identified during veterinary examinations. Dogs are also heartworm negative and current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. The adoption fee helps cover these services and supports our ongoing rescue work. Please note that our pets come from shelters, so we cannot guarantee age, breed, mix of breeds, or adult size.
To learn more about adoption fees and the process, please complete our adoption application at https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
. Applications allow us to understand your household and assess whether a pet is a good match. An application does not obligate you to adopt and can be applied to any pet. Due to high demand, not all applicants may be contacted; if your application is a good fit for the pet you’re interested in—or another pet—a volunteer will reach out as soon as possible.
As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a shelter location. To see animals in person, please visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy
for our weekly adoption album and check event times and locations, as not all animals attend every adoption event.
