Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition
Our Mission
Brooklyn Cat Cafe is Brooklyn's first cat cafe and the only cat cafe in New York area run by a 501c3 animal rescue, Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition, Inc.
Founded in 2007, BBAWC has been making a difference in the homeless cat population in Brooklyn by shifting the paradigm of animal rescue. We created a cooperative that provides individual animal rescuers with medical, foster and adoptive support such as was otherwise found only in traditional shelters. This grassroots model has made it possible to be more cost-effective and responsive than a traditional shelter by engaging many community volunteers who are both knowledgeable and passionate about feline welfare.
Four years ago, we created our community adoption and rescue space, Brooklyn Cat Cafe, one of a few cat cafes in the country operated as a non-profit, rescue organization. Brooklyn Cat Cafe has introduced the general public to animal rescue and facilitates rescue and adoptions.
Adoption Policy
Thanks for your interest in adopting!
During these difficult times adoptions are moving very fast and we are working to respond as quickly as possible to get our cats into their forever homes.
There is a chance that the cat you are inquiring about may already have an application, but we will do our best to find you the perfect fit.
At this time we can only process adoptions to Brooklyn and nearby areas of Queens and Manhattan at this time.
Applications from other boroughs and states will not be processed.
All of our adoptions are happening as foster to adopt: you'll begin by fostering with the intention to adopt if all works out.
As always, we DO NOT adopt out single kittens and any applications for a single kitten will be ignored.
No need to follow up via email or phone -- we promise that we are working as fast as possible to get our cats home!
