Our Mission

We are active in our work with three Pueblo tribes - rescuing, rehabbing, spay/neuter, education, health/wellness, and emergencies 24/7. We are located on a reservation. Most of our adoptable pets have come from here from our local pueblos and are then fostered with volunteer families in Abq, Santa Fe, and Los Alamos and Rio Rancho homes. We've found the dogs and cats to be generally very good with kids and other pets. Please feel free to ask us questions - we get to know the pets on a very personal level.

Our process is to start a conversation about the animal you are considering adopting via email (DesertPawsNM@gmail.com), there's an online application, a phone call, and a meetgreet/home visit with family members (including furries), trial adoption, stay in touch.

We are a non-profit 501c3 organization and donations are tax-deductible as per tax codes. We welcome one-time and monthly donations (physical and monetary). We also welcome sponsorship of a particular animal of your choosing. We also welcome donations of payments to pay off our ongoing veterinary expenses (paid either to us or directly to the veterinarian). Our veterinary expenses include not only the animals in our organization for adoption, but also the bills incurred helping tribal animals in emergency situations that would perish without our assistance.
