12 Inch Tails
Our Mission
Twelve Inch Tails Animal Rescue, deeply devoted to the well-being of homeless and needy animals, lovingly serves the communities of South Jersey, with a special focus on Atlantic City, Absecon, Galloway Township, Egg Harbor City, and Egg Harbor Township.
Our heart lies in rescuing and rehoming cats, addressing their unique needs. We offer adoption and fostering services as well as TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) and TNA (Trap, Neuter, Assess). We are deeply invested in the individual well-being and future of each animal. We dedicate ourselves to helping adoptable cats and kittens transition from the challenging life on the streets to the warm and loving embrace of a forever home.
At Twelve Inch Tails Animal Rescue, we embrace a compassionate approach, diverging from the traditional shelter model. Our rescued animals are nurtured in a network of caring foster homes, providing them an environment that mirrors a typical family home. This nurturing, family-like atmosphere is essential for giving our animals the affection, care, and social experiences they need. Our work, driven by love and dedication, is anchored in the belief that every animal deserves a chance for a happier, more loving life.
Adoption Policy
The adoption process at 12 Inch Tails is designed to be thorough and supportive, ensuring that each pet finds a suitable and loving forever home. Here's an overview of our adoption process for potential adopters:
Adoption Application: Prospective adopters start by completing an adoption application. This application gathers information about the adopter's lifestyle, home environment, and preferences for a pet. It helps us understand the adopter's needs and match them with the right pet.
Meet and Greet: Once the application is reviewed, we arrange a meet and greet session. This allows the potential adopter to interact with the pet they are interested in. It's an opportunity to see how the pet behaves in a social setting and how they bond with the adopter.
Veterinary Assessment Review: We provide a comprehensive review of the pet's medical history, including vaccinations, spay/neuter status, microchipping, and any medical treatments or assessments performed. This ensures the adopter is fully informed about the pet's health.
Home Visit: For some adoptions, especially those involving specific breeds or pets with special needs, a home visit might be required. This helps us ensure that the pet is going to a safe and supportive environment.
Adoption Counseling: Our staff provides adoption counseling to discuss the responsibilities of pet ownership, including care requirements, health maintenance, and tips for integrating the pet into the adopter's home.
Adoption Agreement: If both the adopter and 12 Inch Tails feel the match is suitable, an adoption agreement is signed. This document outlines the terms of adoption, including the commitment to provide a loving and caring home for the pet.
Adoption Fee: The adopter pays an adoption fee, which covers a portion of the medical care the pet has received, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping, and any other treatment.
Stay in Touch: We ask adopters to stay in touch and share their happy ever after stories with us. We love to use these stories on our social media to inspire others and showcase the positive impact of adoption.
Post-Adoption Support: After the adoption, we remain available for advice and support to help ensure a smooth transition for the pet and the adopter. We encourage adopters to reach out with any questions or concerns.
