Franklin Animal Shelter
Our Mission
Our mission is to shelter, care for, and advocate for the abused, neglected and abandoned cats
and dogs of the communities we s
erve by taking steps to control overpopulation and providing
healthy animals that will be adopted into loving 'forever' homes.
We will accomplish this by responsible stewardship of resources and maintaining a focus on the
financial health and wellbeing of the organization. Granite State Animal League dba Franklin Animal Shelter envisions communities where the principled and humane.
treatment of cats and dogs are the norm, overpopulation is controlled by responsible owners, and all adoptable companion animals are placed into loving 'forever' homes.
Adoption Policy
All potential adopters must complete an application to adopt an animal from FAS. Applications are
screened by the Shelter Manager. Because part of our application includes reference
s (the most important being veterinarian references), applications can generally not be reviewed on weekends.
Once a person is approved to adopt, he or she can then select an animal from those available or may
request an available animal at the time of application. We cannot "hold" an animal for an unapproved adopter, even if they ask to leave a deposit. Adoptions are not granted on a first come first serve basis. We strive to place an animal in the best situation. If multiple applications are received for a particular animal, the approved adopter may not necessarily be the first application received.
Because of our application process, we do not offer same day adoptions.
