Stanly County Animal Protective Services
Our Mission
Animal Protective Services is a division of the Stanly County Sheriff's Office. The mission of the Animal Protective Services is to protect the health and safety of our residents, and to protect the animals, and promote their humane treatment. Stanly County Animal Protective Services has adopted a no-kill philosophy. We will make every effort to promote pet adoptions of healthy, non-aggressive animals by the public and transfer to approved animal rescue organizations. To help reduce the number of homeless pets, we will ensure that all dogs and cats are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. SCAPS is dedicated to the following goals: The rescue of lost and abandoned animals in our community, providing food, shelter and vet care to those in need, promoting spay and neutering to end the suffering and overpopulation of unwanted animals, and adoption of healthy animals into loving homes.
Adoption Policy
Interested adopters must first complete an adoption questionnaire either in person, or on our Facebook page. We check vet reference, and if they rent, we do a landlord check. Due to limited staffing, adoption appointments are scheduled Tuesday - Thursday, and walk in adoptions are facilities Friday - Saturday. Please see our Facebook page for potential closings. An approved application is required to adopt!
