Great Pyrenees Rescue of Missouri
Our Mission
Great Pyrenees Rescue of Missouri is a state-licensed, 501(c)(3), foster-based rescue dedicated to saving all Great Pyrenees who are without a home, need medical attention or need a safe-haven as they await their forever home. All of the Great Pyrenees in our care live in foster homes until a forever home can be found. We rescue without regard to health, age, or ease of placement.
We are committed to placing 100% of adoptable pyrs into new homes, and providing these dogs who enter our care with the resources they need to be happy, healthy, and ultimately, find new homes.
It is only through the generosity of donations that we are able to help lost, abandoned and abused dogs in Missouri and surrounding states. A special thanks to those who support Great Pyrenees Rescue of Missouri!
Adoption Policy
Applicants must have a secure and visible fence and children in the home must be 12 or older. In order for your application to be approved, you must also pass a home check and a vet check which includes having at least a two year vet history.
All of our dogs can be adopted in Missouri and surrounding states that we are currently able to transport to: Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Arkansas.
Our adoption fees are:
Dogs 1 year and older: $450
Puppies under 1 year: $500
All of our rescued pyrs are fully vetted prior to adoption, spayed/neutered (dogs over 6 months), microchipped, up-to-date on immunizations, and up-to-date on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives.
The adoption process begins when you complete an online Adoption Application, naming either one or a few of our available dogs you are interested in adopting. Completing an application does not restrict you to a specific dog, nor does it obligate you to adopt.
Once we have received your application and determined if you are a good match for the dog you are interested in, a representative from our adoption team will contact you to go over our process in its entirety.
From there, we will put you in contact with the foster parent, so you may set up a meet and greet with the dog, in person when possible or video chat if that isn't an option.
Before adopting, keep in mind that many of our dogs prior to being rescued and placed in foster homes have never lived inside a home. Some dogs may never have been walked on a leash, socialized, house-trained or spent time with other animals. Our fosters work with these dogs on many of these issues to prepare them for their furever homes, but these dogs will still need patience and understanding as they learn to adapt when they come to you.
Rescued dogs need adopters who will not give up on them if they have accidents in the house, pull on the leash, dig in the yard, or act nervous or frightened. An adoption will be successful only if the adopter is committed to seeing the dog through the adjustment period. The rewards are the unconditional love and loyalty of a wonderful companion, and the satisfaction of knowing you have given a rescued dog a better life.
If at any time after adoption, you decide you cannot keep the pet for any reason, the dog must be returned to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Missouri.
