Our Mission
The mission of Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services is to improve the community through the practice of compassion by saving and protecting animals, providing care and treatment, through education advocate for their welfare and to enhance the human-animal bond. Jefferson Parish operates an adoption center location on both the Eastbank and the Westbank of the parish.
Adoption Policy
Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services is open for adoptions Monday's thru Friday’s from 9am to 4:30 p.m.
Saturday's adoption hours are 9am to 4pm.

We update biographies of pets on a regular basis as volunteers submit pictures and information after spending their valuable time with our wonderful animals. Please check regularly.
ADOPTION FEES

Dogs / Puppies: $67
Cats / Kittens $10 (2 FOR $15)
Rabbits: $25
MICROCHIPPING
Microchipping for dogs and cats is offered during adoption center business hours. The cost is $25 & includes registration. Dogs must be on leash, and cats must be in carriers.
PAYMENTS
JPAWS no longer accepts cash for transactions. Only money orders, personal checks, debit cards & credit cards are accepted. There is a nominal processing fee for debit/credit card transactions.
VOLUNTEERING
To volunteer on an on-going basis working with animals, please email JPAWS@jeffparish.gov.

FREE AND LOW-COST SPAY/NEUTER
