Adoption Policy
What to do when you want to Adopt:
If you are interested in adopting, don't wait. We take applications on a first come basis. The first application approved for an animal will have priority for that adoption, a hold will be place on that animal until they are ready to go home. First thing you need to do is fill out an adoption application, you can do that either here in person, or online by clicking the apply online button below. Please give us two to three business days to look your application over and get back with you.
Second, if you haven't already done so, you need to meet your potential new family member. Our animals can be seen anytime during open hours, no appointment needed.
Before applying, please consider that you must come to the shelter to complete the adoption. We do not ship or transport animals.
Your application has been approved. What's next?
Staff will schedule a spay/neuter for your animal if they aren't already altered. In accordance with state law, all animals must be spayed or neutered before they go home. We allow a three day recovery period for neuters and five days for a spay surgery. Sometimes with animals that are newer to us, or younger critters, there may be a bit of a wait before they can go home. We make every effort to accomplish this in a timely and healthy manner. If you are waiting for your new pet, we will call you as soon as the vet appointment has been made and will make arrangements for pick-up at that time. You are more than welcome to visit your new pet anytime during open hours. If at anytime during this process you decide not to adopt, please just let us know so that we can re-list the animal.
If you have any questions, please e-mail or give us a call.
