Animal Protection League
Our Mission
The Animal Protection League is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
Founded in 2003: Our goal was to raise awareness concerning animal care and cruelty. Over the years, we have introduced programs educating the public on the humane treatment of animals, responsible care-giving and the importance of the human/animal connection; the reciprocal bond that exists between humans and animals.
On April 1, 2011: The APL entered a partnership with the City of Anderson to manage the operations of its animal shelter. Using the resources available to us, our staff and volunteers strive every day to find loving and lifelong adopters for the homeless cats and dogs in our community.
Adoption Policy
Adoption applications typically take 1-2 business days to process. Once that is complete, a member of our Adoption Team will be in contact with you.
As a part of our process, we do require a meet and greet appointment at our shelter in Anderson, Indiana. For dog meets, we do require that all family members (both human and canine) attend.
Dog and puppy adoption fees range from $100-$250 and include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, deworming, heartworm testing, microchip, and a free wellness exam.Â
The adoption fee for cats and kittens is $50 and includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, deworming, FIV/FELV testing, microchip, and a free wellness exam.
Cats or dogs ages 8+ may qualify for a special senior discounted rate of $30 (some breeds are excluded)
Dogs from the F.I.D.O. shelter dog prison program are $150.00. They are completely vetted, crate trained, house trained, and know 5 basic commands. If you would like information on any of the F.I.D.O. dogs, please contact Maleah Stringer at maleahstringer@aol.com.
