Fancy Feline Rescue of the South, Inc.
Our Mission
Fancy Feline Rescue of the South, a non-profit, no-kill rescue licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture, is a small rescue organization with a big heart for the "Fancy Feline" breeds -- particularly Persian, Himalayan, Exotic, Ragdoll, Birman, Maine Coon, Siamese, and other CFA- and TICA-recognized breeds and mixes.
Our goal is to provide tender, loving care and safe-haven for those cats that are abandoned, abused, neglected, or no longer wanted by their owners, and to find appropriate, adoptive forever homes for each. While in our care, Fancy Feline Rescue of the South strives to give one-on-one socialization, providing the individual attention these cats so often need.
Fancy Feline Rescue of the South is dedicated to providing individual attention and the best care possible for our cats. We evaluate each cat as to temperament, fully vet before adoption, and place them with the best adoptive home to meet the needs of the specific cat.
Adoption Policy
We do not do same-day meet-and greet adoptions without a previously approved Adoption Application. If you are interested in adopting, we ask that (1) you read over our Adoption Process and then (2) complete our online Adoption Application. Please keep in mind that we have a Companion Cat Policy: Unless otherwise indicated, all cats under the age of 1 must go into a home with another cat/kitten. Obviously, some young adults not raised around other cats or with more independent personalities may be exceptions to those rules, but that is up to the discretion of the Rescue to assess that need and is not negotiable. Special prices are made for buddy adoptions.
THIS IS IMPORTANT: Once you submit the application, the process usually takes about a week; however, if you do not provide us with complete, verifiable information on the application, the process can take longer. Please make sure that all information is complete, especially regarding vet information for all previous pets, and that you contact those vet offices to give them authorization to release any information on your pets to our Adoption Counselor. Please note that by completing the Application, it in no way obligates either you or Fancy Feline Rescue of the South. It will, however, give us a chance to do a bit of “homework.” When we begin processing the Application, our Adoption Counselor, Fran Jackson (franjackson@earthlink.net), will contact you either by phone or email, so please keep an eye on your spam email folder in case an email from her happens to end up in your spam email! If we do not receive a response from you within 7-10 days regarding any questions we may have concerning your Application, we will file it away as “no response,” and move forward with the next application. Also please note that we consider Applications on a best home, first come, first served basis.
We have suspended our normally scheduled twice-monthly meet-and-greet events and we do not have a public facility. We do, however, set appointments to conduct adoptions for those who have approved Applications.
