Friends of Strays Inc.
Our Mission
Friends of Strays Animal Shelter takes pride in saving the lives of abandoned animals in Pinellas County With over 100 cats and dogs visiting our shelter at any given time, Friends of Strays strives to provide the utmost love and care for every animal that comes through our doors.
Our staff is dedicated to helping the homeless animals in our care find their forever homes. We understand the unique bond that a person has with their companion animals and how that relationship can provide a sense of well-being and comfort for many years.
Founded in 1978, we are community focused, working together to make an impact in the lives of humans and their companion animals through our many programs, including the Pet Food Pantry, Pets for Patriots, and Seniors for Seniors.
As a 501(c)3, our lifesaving success depends on individual, business, and planned giving donations. We thank you, the generous members of our community, for your support and concern for the abandoned animals we all love. We realize that our efforts on behalf of the animals would not be possible without you.
Adoption Policy
With as many as 80 companion animals to visit at our shelter at any given time, Friends of Strays strives to provide the utmost love and care for every animal that comes through our doors. The Adoption Counselors are proud to work with potential adopters to ensure their new addition is a good match and to provide guidance to help with their transition into a new home. It is our goal to make every match successful and have all of our adopted animals transition into a permanent home successfully. You must be at least 18 years old
