Forgotten Felines Rescue
Our Mission
Forgotten Felines Rescue Denver’s mission is to improve the lives of homeless cats and kittens in the Denver metro area. The organization received its 501(c)3 non-profit status at the end of 2009, but Forgotten Feline founders have been individually helping Denver’s forgotten felines for many years. In 2010, we began to build our organization by seeking funding, recruiting volunteers, and establishing relationships with area spay/neuter veterinary clinics. Forgotten Felines Rescue has been a member of Metro Denver Animal Welfare Alliance (MDAWA) for about 10 years. MDAWA is a coalition of animal welfare organizations that promote humane care for companion animals in our community. Forgotten Felines Rescue is Pet Animal Care Facilities Act (PACFA) certified.
With the help of volunteers, our goals are to:
- Provide services to help control the feral cat population. This includes lending humane traps, educating the public on the TNR guidelines, and providing avenues for neutering.
- Work to socialize kittens and re-socialize and rehabilitate tame cats who are found living in feral colonies.
- Adopt rescued cats and kittens.
- Develop fundraising activities to support our ongoing cat rescue activities.
- Educate the public to raise their awareness of the problem and enlist their support in carrying out Forgotten Feline Rescue Denver’s mission.
Adoption Policy
We are so excited that you are thinking about adopting a new cat. Our cats stay in temporary loving foster homes until they can be adopted into permanent, loving homes.
We may also have cats and kittens in foster homes who are not yet posted on our adoption sites. Please keep checking these sites or let us know what you are interested in adopting.
Once you have seen a cat online or through social media, the cat adoption process begins. We will work with you to make sure that there is the correct match between adopter and pet. We want to make sure that you are committed to your new cat. It’s important to be ready to provide a life-long home for the cat you are interested in.
The first step in the cat adoption process is to complete an Adoption Application. You can download an Adoption Application here https://forgottenfelinesdenver.org/adoption-copy/. You will need to include the name and number of your current veterinarian, the name and number of your landlord (if applicable), and three references. Please submit your completed application to adopt@ForgottenFelinesDenver.org. Don’t forget to include a note about which cat/kitten you are interested in. One of our volunteers will likely give you a call to talk more about your household, family and experience with pet ownership.
