Southern California Guinea Pig Rescue
Our Mission
Southern California Guinea Pig Rescue (SCGPR) is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of neglected, abandoned, and at-risk Guinea Pigs.
Our adoptable Guinea Pigs are cared for in homes by foster volunteers, and our organization operates entirely on donations. Our network spans the whole of Southern California, and we work to serve every community throughout Orange County, Los Angeles County, and Ventura County.
We have over 30 years of combined experience working in Guinea Pig rescue and our goal is simple: save as many Guinea Pigs as possible, and place them into loving, permanent homes. We are passionate and small, but mighty!
Adoption Policy
Adopters must fill out an application (available online) and submit a photo or receipt of their cage so we can verify our minimum space requirements are met. After approval, arrangements are made for the adopter to meet the guinea pigs with an experienced volunteer to facilitate the introductions and answer any questions.
If trying to pair a single guinea pig with a current pig, the application process is the same but the meeting process is a bit lengthier. The adopter can meet with several single guinea pigs to see which one may be a harmonious match. Initial introductions can last a couple hours and the adopter will go home and reintroduce the guinea pigs and monitor for signs of aggression. If the bond fails, the adopter must separate the guinea pigs and we will make arrangements to take the guinea pig back. Then we repeat until we find a good match.
