Save the Dalmatians and Others Canine Rescue
Our Mission
All of the volunteers behind the Save the Dals organization have their own unique story to tell as to why they stand behind this cause and organization. However, we all share one common thing: we are all in love with and addicted to “spots.”
Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home of Dalmatians from shelters or owners who no longer want them or can take care of them, and place them in new, permanent, loving homes.
However, our mission doesn’t end there. We want to be a resource to our dog fostering families, Dal adopters, and people even considering Dalmatian ownership.
Our volunteers make up collectively over 100 -years of Dal hands-on experience and advice. It’s our hope to promote education on the breed, so as to dispel all of the misnomers that have plagued this beautiful species, such as “Dalmatians are hyper and uncontrollable.”
Adoption Policy
The first step in our adoption process is for the prospective adopter to complete our Adoption Application Questionnaire which helps us best match you with the the dog that would be most suited to your home environment and expectations.
Email us at info@savethedals.org with the name of the dog that interests you and we will send you our Adoption Application Questionnaire.
If based on the Application Questionnaire we think one of our dogs is a good match to your home environment and expectations, we will follow up with a phone call, advise you of the adoption fee, schedule a home visit if applicable, and arrange a meet and greet with the dog. Adopters are also required to sign our Adoption Contract; you will be provided a copy of the contract for you to review and ask questions before you adopt the dog.
Note that we often have multiple applicants wanting to adopt the same dog. Our selection process is not based on whose application we receive first. It is based on who we believe will be the best match for the dog, allowing for the greatest success of a high quality, loving forever home, with the least likelihood of the dog needing to be returned to rescue.
We commit to the life of each dog we rescue, such that at any point in the life of the dog if its adopter is no longer able to keep the dog, the adopter signs our adoption contract agreeing that they will return the dog to Save The Dalmatians and Others Canine Rescue. The dog is not to be turned into an animal shelter.
