Mission Bay Puppy Rescue
Our Mission
At Mission Bay Puppy Rescue, we are dedicated to saving pregnant dogs, new mothers, and orphaned pups from unsafe conditions. We specialize in puppy rescue, providing lifesaving care to pups and their mothers whenever possible. Whether found on the streets or transferred from partner shelters in need, we ensure these vulnerable animals receive the specialized attention they deserve.
We commit to giving every pup and mama the medical care they need, including vaccinations, spay/neuter procedures, microchipping, and rehabilitation. Once they are healthy and ready, we carefully match them with loving, forever homes.
Join us in giving these pups a second chance at a happy life. Together, we can help them find the safety and love they deserve.
Adoption Policy
At Mission Bay Puppy Rescue, we take great care in ensuring the best possible match between our pups and their adoptive families. Here’s an overview of our adoption process:
Application & Interview: Prospective adopters start by completing an adoption application. Our adoption coordinator follows up with a phone interview, which may include a Zoom or FaceTime call. We conduct a preliminary home check using Google Earth, and if necessary, an in-person home visit may be arranged.
Approval Process: Due to the young age of many of our dogs—some as young as 8 weeks—we have a more stringent approval process. We require that adopters can provide full-time care and have minimal time away from the puppy for at least the first 4 months. Typically, we do not adopt puppies to individuals under 25 unless it is clear they have an established and stable lifestyle. Additionally, we are cautious about placing young puppies in homes with children under 6 years old. In these cases, we often recommend considering older dogs or our mama dogs, who may be a better fit for families with young kids.
Adoption Agreement: Upon approval, the adopter receives a contract and an invoice. If the puppy still needs to be spayed or neutered, we provide a voucher for the procedure. Families are also given an FAQ sheet, contact information for local vets and trainers, and 24/7 access to my personal phone number for any questions or concerns.
Finalization: The adoption process includes signing the application agreement as well as a final contract at the time of adoption.
Our goal is to ensure every dog is placed in a loving, responsible, and prepared home, setting both the pup and their new family up for a successful and happy future together.
