All volunteer run and entirely foster home based and donor supported! WCAL assists with all things animal-related in the Upper Napa Valley. WCAL leads the no kill philosophy in Napa County and rescues homeless animals from Lake, Sonoma and Napa Counties. This organization was envisioned in 2009 by Dr. Steve Franquelin of the Calistoga Pet Clinic as a way to provide veterinary & financial support for strays in our community and we have grown to a very active rescue group saving hundreds of lives each year. WCAL was granted 501(c)3 non-profit status in December of 2012. Federal Tax ID #27-1454400
Adoption Policy
Adopting with WCAL is fun and easy!
1) Read the bios to find a good match then fill out the online application form on our website. Once we receive your completed application, our adoption counselors can answer questions and provide additional information about a particular pet:
www.WineCountryAnimalLovers.org/adopt-a-cat/
www.WineCountryAnimalLovers.org/adopt-a-dog/
2) One of our volunteer adoption counselors will review your application then contact you via email to answer questions and set up a meet and greet so you can take your new family member home. We can only set up meet and greets after an application has been received. All meet & greets are virtual during the pandemic and pet hand offs are no-contact to keep everyone healthy.
3) If the match is good for everyone, we'll arrange a time and place for you to bring home the animal and email you medical records for you to share with your vet. WCAL hosts a private facebook group for our adopters to offer post-adoption support and advice. Live happily ever after with your new pet & don't forget to send us updates!
We are a foster based rescue group and do not have our own facility. All our adoptable pets are living in various homes throughout Napa and Sonoma Counties so we need to schedule meet and greets in advance. As an all volunteer rescue, most of us have full time jobs and so weekends and weeknight evenings usually work best. Thank you for your patience!
