Humane Society of Independence County
Our Mission
The HUMANE SOCIETY OF INDEPENDENCE COUNTY is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and providing a safe shelter for abandoned, abused, homeless and unwanted dogs and cats within Independence County, and ultimately placing them in secure, loving and stable homes.  The Humane Society of Independence County believes that a strong bond between man and animal is beneficial to both, creating an atmosphere of love and companionship that lasts a lifetime.  A major community goal is to reduce the unwanted pet population by encouraging and assisting with the spaying|neutering of all dogs and cats through education and awareness.
Adoption Policy
Thank you for considering adopting a pet in need!  When you adopt a shelter animals, you save 2 lives; the animal you adopt and the one you made room for by adopting.  Our main priority is to match the right pet to the right home;  we want to do our best to make sure our pets find their loving, forever homes the first time around.  Our adoption process helps ensure a lifetime of love and compatibility for both the pet and the adopter.  When you find a pet you are interested in adopting, come by our shelter, call us, or send us an email!  We are always happy to talk about homes for our pets!
