Stray Love Foundation, Inc.
Our Mission
Stray Love Foundation, Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit animal advocacy group that was founded
in 2010 just after the BP oil spill when so many lost their jobs and left the gulf coast
leaving their pets behind. Since then, the need for our foundation continues to grow as
Baldwin County is the 6th fastest growing county in the United States. Unfortunately
our stray cat and dog population is growing as well.
In 2017, when the local shelter stopped taking in cats, we became a mostly cat rescue
although we rescue and place some dogs every year. There are so many dog rescues
out there, many of which we work with, we wanted to help as many cats as we could.
Stray Love has three main missions:
1) Assisting stray, injured, and orphaned animals through vet care, fostering and adoption.
2) BIG LOVE Projects
This program is geared toward helping special needs situations where we assist the elderly
and indigent with their pets by providing food, veterinarian care, spay/neuter and re-homing
of pets when necessary, or when the owner passes away. We also create pet food drives
in emergencies, such as sending food and supplies to disaster areas.
Big Love projects come to us through veterinarian and social worker referrals and are taken,
as we are able, on a case by case basis.
3) EDUCATION
Every year, just before spring, Stray Love creates a Billboard and social media campaign
promoting spay/neuter and educating the public on how much healthier their animals
will be (preventing cancers, etc.) and how much longer they will live. Of course, we’re
also hoping to prevent more overpopulation of stray cats and dogs. Also we’ve had
numerous children’s programs at public libraries and are happy to speak at civic
groups when invited.
All of our adoptable rescues are, or will be, tested, completely vetted, spayed or neutered and
micro-chipped. The Stray Love Foundation has assisted, placed, re-homed 1000’s of
animals in need. We are well on our way to exceeding 200 animals in just this year alone.
Adoption Policy
ADOPTION INFORMATION
All of our rescues are or will be completely vetted, spayed or neutered and micro-chipped upon approved adoption.
We ask for an adoption donation of $148 for cats/kittens and dogs/puppies (we do ask for more for breed specific rescues) which helps cover a portion of each animals veterinary care.
The Stray Love Foundation strives to find the very best homes for these rescued animals. Please understand that the application process is in place so that we do what is best for both the animal and the potential “new parents”.
