Abbey Cat Adoptions
Our Mission
Abbey Cat Adoptions is a registered charity dedicated to finding permanent homes for abandoned cats and kittens in the Greater Toronto Area.
We work closely with foster homes and potential adopters to find a suitable match between families and their new pet.
Due to an overwhelming number of kittens born each year there are hundreds of healthy young cats and kittens who are at risk of euthanasia in overcrowded shelters or exposure to the elements in the coming winter months.
It is our mission to find a permanent and loving home for each Abbey Cat and many others who are waiting to enter the program.
Adoption Policy
**Kitten Policy**
Please note: Kittens require the companionship of other kittens and the younger the kitten the more this is so.
It is a developmental need.
If you do not have animals at home and you only want one cat please look at kittens 6 months or older.
By this time in their life we know which cats need the companionship of other animals and which ones would prefer to live without other animals.
We provide an adoption service and want to match the right cat with the right home.
It is against Abbey Cat policy to adopt a single kitten under the age of 6 months to a home without other young cats/kittens for company.
Please bear this in mind when calling to adopt.
*** Due to an unprecedented demand (especially for kittens) we regret that we are unable to respond by phone to all of the applications we are currently receiving.
We are only able at this time to phone those applicants who have sent in an online adoption application, can provide a vet reference and their criteria matches what the particular cat or kittens' needs are.
We regret any inconvenience caused as we do our best to meet the overwhelming demand we are currently experiencing*****
