CatNap Society
Our Mission
CatNap Society (Cats Needing Aid and Protection) is a 100% volunteer-based cat rescue located in Nanaimo, BC that was formed in 1998 by a small local group of caring individuals who wanted to make a difference for the homeless cats of Nanaimo.
We are a CRA registered charity and BC Society that has grown to well over a hundred active volunteers who help with all areas of our operations - from rescue/trapping, fostering, vet appointment transport, pickup of donations, cleaning, adoptions, fundraising, administration, communications and a number of other valuable tasks - allowing us to help almost 700 cats and kittens annually.
Our mandate is to rescue feral and abandoned cats and kittens, have their medical needs met including treatment of illness, injury, vaccines, parasite control, spay/neuter surgeries and socialize them in foster homes before finding them loving homes. In the case of some feral cats who are unlikely to be successfully socialized to an indoor home, they will be released back to their original colony location after receiving required medical care and are spayed/neutered, and where they are provided shelter and daily food and water by a caregiver.
