This big guy is a 14yr old Friesian/Percheron cross gelding, standing at approx 17hh. He has an unknown history prior to being owned by a feed lot. What we do know is that he does not have scaring from a collar so we believe he was not used on a farm or with farm equipment. He has a large back leg from cellulitis, that seems to be a result of an old injury. He has some scaring on that leg that looks to be from a fence accident. He is blind in his left eye, that seems to be old as he is not spooky. Diesel is currently standing with mares and geldings, he stays a great weight on just a round bale and no supplemental grain. He is very low key and easy going, not bothered by much. This guy is a gentleman for most to handle, but NOT for a first time owner or a timid person. He is big and he will push if he thinks you may be afraid. Diesel is buddy sour if you take his friends away so he will need more than one friend in his field. He stands perfect for the farrier without stocks, zero concerns with standing in cross ties or hard tied. Loads and travels wonderfully. He is pasture sound and may be fine with shorter rides around your farm or easier trails. He has had his teeth floated, dewormed, and vaccinated.
We have a very strict no breeding contract, we also have a no backing contract on young horses, meaning ZERO rides until they are at least 3 years old. Our adoption fees reflect the current market, training, and costs involved with their rescue.
