Taco Happy Tails Parrot Adoption Story August 2020

I've always been a huge animal lover, but couldn't adopt a dog or cat due to allergies, so I thought cuddly pets were out for me. But after two injured wild songbirds came into my care for a few days, the house felt empty without the presence of a bird, so I decided to look into a local parrot shelter. As fate would have it, Taco finished quarantine and was posted for adoption right around the time my shelter application was finishing processing. I'd never heard of caiques until then - nor many of the other parrot species available - and didn't pay much attention to Taco at first. But as the shelter recommended him so highly, and my family were taken with his cuteness and colors, I began learning all I could about caiques and doing bonding visits with him. I fell totally in love with the playfulness and energy of this species, and with Taco especially. Since he's come home, he's filled our life with SO much love and laughter as we learn all kinds of new words he can say and tricks he can do, and spend hours cuddling and wrestling with him. Can't believe how empty our life was before he arrived!
