Ziggy Stardust (Bonded with Buffy) Pekingese Mix Jefferson, LA

Buffy and Ziggy Stardust were left heartbroken when their wonderful mom passed away unexpectedly. Their mom had some good friends that agreed to foster these babies while we search for a new furever home where they will be loved and cared for like their mom would have wanted.

Buffy is about 5 years old and was adopted after a breeder decided to retire from breeding. Ziggy was adopted after being found as a stray and brought to the shelter. Ziggy is about 10-12 years old. Buffy weighs about 12 lbs. and Ziggy is about 10 lbs. Buffy and Ziggy are best suited for a home without young children as they have been used to a quiet home. Buffy helps Ziggy maneuver life as he has limited vision. Ziggy is what we call a limited fospice. Ziggy will need eye medication for the rest of his life which is about $50 per month and will need to be on heartworm prevention for the rest of his life (as all dogs should be!) The Jefferson SPCA will provide the eye medication and heartworm prevention to an approved adopter/fospice caretaker. Both dogs get along with other dogs. Buffy still has a lot of spunk and Ziggy likes be near his sister. Both dogs are up to date on vaccines and heartworm prevention and have tested negative for heartworms.

Buffy and Ziggy are in a foster home so a meet and greet with them could be scheduled at a mutually convenient time at Jefferson Feed. Our adoption coordinator, Martha, is in contact with their foster mom and can be reached at Jefferson Feed Monday through Thursday at 504-733-8572.

Any dog that tests positive for heartworms can be treated through our Fix-A-Heart Program. Adopter has to buy a year supply of heartworm prevention before treatment begins.
