Meet Zeus

Meet Zeus! Zeus is a truly handsome and super stunning adult male Siberian Husky who's almost 3 years old. Zeus is a gentle, sweet, and is a purebred Siberian Husky who is great with other dogs, kids and cats. He is a medium energy dog, but for a Husky - he is pretty low-key. Zeus loves to be with his people, and he is happy to hang out and watch TV just as much as he loves to go on walks. Zeus had a rough start to his life. He and his litter-mates were ill, so they were quarantined in separate kennels for most of the first year of their lives. After this, Zeus was in fostered in another kennel for part of his second year. This trauma has made Zeus very afraid of being in a kennel/crate and of being left alone. Zeus would do best with a dog buddy, and in a home where the family is home more often than not. (He loves his people!) Zeus has been around children of varying ages and has done well. He takes treats gently and follows some basic commands. Once Zeus knows the routine, he does well with going potty outside. Zeus does best on a leash and in a yard with a fence. With his rough start in life, he can panic and run, and the leash helps him to feel secure. Zeus has been with several different foster dogs and has done well with all different breeds and sizes; he adapts quickly and is a great canine-mate. His gentle spirit makes he a wonderful companion. He was not an SDH dog, but a dog who was rescued and adopted by the family of one of SDH's volunteer fosters, and so we're happy to help them with finding Zeus a more suitable home. Submit your adoption application online today through our website and don't miss this opportunity to bring this wonderful boy home for a home trial towards his adoption. Will you be his hero?

steps to adopting

(OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS ARE IN SEPARATE TEMPORARY FOSTER HOMES BETWEEN BEND/CENTRAL OREGON AND THE GREATER PORTLAND AREA. THEREFORE, MEET AND GREETS ARE NOT DONE AT OUR FACILITY. TO LEARN MORE, PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR ADOPTION APPLICATION ONLINE AND OUR ADOPTION PROGRAM MANAGER WILL REACH OUT TO YOU WITH FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO MEET YOUR NEW PUP!)

The first step to adopting a dog from SDH is to complete the adoption application. First click on the "OUR DOGS" tab up above, and then click on the orange colored "Fill out an Adoption Application here" button to start the process). Once submitted, please expect 3-5 business days or sooner for processing and to hear back from us. Once you are pre-approved, your adoption application will remain on file with us for 1 year and it can go towards multiple adoptions within that 1 year time frame before it expires.

To finalize an adoption you must sign the adoption contract and pay the full adoption fee of $300. The adoption fee helps cover our costs. On average, per dog, it costs SDH between $500-$700 for vetting/medical/sterilization, transport and other rescue related expenses. All dogs are rescued and do not transport to SDH until they are healthy and ready to be adopted. All dogs are examined by a veterinarian before they fly, which includes sterilization whenever possible, given standard vaccines and rabies (if age appropriate). Most dogs are sterilized before they come into our program, however if this is not the case we will spay/neuter them once they arrive at our cost.

Upon their arrival, all dogs are seen for a wellness exam by SDH's medical team. Once the adoption is finalized, any further medical care or treatment will not be covered by SDH, unless discussed prior with our medical team. All known issues are disclosed to the best of our ability prior to finalizing the adoption.
