Meet Winnie

If your children need a best friend, Winnie has LOVED her time around kiddos. When she is meeting new people, it may take her a minute or two to get used to adults but she has gone right over to the kiddos to say. It is so super sweet.

When we have had her as our office dog, she is the perfect girl. She will stop by each desk, asking for affection and attention, and maybe a treat or two, then she'll head back to her bed to chew on a bone and will quiet down so we can work. When we are on breaktime, well, so is Winnie! She knows it is the perfect time to place a squeaky toy on our lap and ask us to toss it so she can start a fetch game.

Winnie loves playing fetch with tennis balls, too! The home she used to live in was overall a quieter home, and we think she'd be most comfortable in a similar-paced home. She is playful outside but then calms down and wants to be near you.

At first when meeting new people, she asks for a little bit of time. But if you have a tennis ball or a treat to offer her, she warms up and learns she can trust you. We have loved seeing her develop trust with our staff and volunteers. She is so snuggly and affectionate. Winnie is totally in-tune and has awesome eye contact when you are talking to her. "Aloof" is definitely NOT a word to describe Winnie! Once she trusts you, she is the most loyal, well-mannered sweetheart.

The more we learn about her, the sillier she becomes! She loves to play with tug ropes but is gentle and loves to share them. She is a joy to be around. She also knows how to sit, shake paws, and lay down. We think she may do well with friendly male dogs as she used to live with one but it will depend on the resident dog. She has had very positive reactions to cats at the shelter. She is a little younger than two-and-a-half-years-old and is spayed.
