Meet Willy

If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Willy is the is the puppy you want to have around! Willy is just 2 and a half months old, and 15 lbs. Willy is the silliest, sweetest boy.

Farfel's received a plea from Rescued Pets Movement in Houston to save the life of Willy's mom and her nine 2 week old puppies. All were scheduled for euthanasia due to a lack of space at the shelter. They described the mom and entire litter as healthy, wonderful and just about perfect in their temperaments and sweet personalities. We were thrilled to accept both mom and her adorable puppies into Farfel's Rescue.

Willy is a beautiful and sweet as can be Schnauzer / Labrador Retriever mix with all the traits that make these super- smart and personality-plus dogs very popular and beloved breed mixes. Willy's mom was found pregnant on the streets of Houston. She is a gorgeous, scruffy, 38 pound Schnauzer / Bearded Collie mix. Roxie, Willy's mom had 9 gorgeous puppies. We don't know for sure what their dad was, but the vets believe these puppies to be part Labrador. Based off of Willy's current age and weight, he is expected to be around 50-60 lbs. when full grown.

Willy's foster mom had the following to say about this sweet guy:

"Willy was named after Willy Wonka because of how SWEET he is! This floppy little guy is clumsy, cute, and LOVES to be held and snuggle with you. Willy will let you know when it's time to cuddle and will pick right up when it's time to play. If you've always dreamed of having a little pet polar bear, then Willy is your guy.
He is also one of the prettiest dogs I have ever seen with his bright blue/green eyes!"

Willy has a stunning scruffy coat, which he no doubt got from his beautiful mom. His hair will need commitment to periodic brushing and grooming to keep him comfortable and matt-free.

Willy is a social little guy, and is ready to find his forever home! We feel that Willy would do great in a home with someone who works from home. We would feel comfortable with him going to a family with kids 6+ years of age.

Since Willy is just a puppy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. He will form firm bonds with his family and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten followed by force-free level 1 Obedience Classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a puppy's ultimate behavior and in their relationship/bonding with their people. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior.

Willy, being so young, has only had 2 vaccines. He has also been fully vetted and dewormed twice. It is SO important to know that Willy cannot go out on public ground until he has his last booster shot. Farfel's does not cover any vaccines after pick up, however we DO cover the full cost of Willy's neuter. Willy is too young to be neutered, but when he is 8-12 months old we will cover the full cost. Neuter is REQUIRED to finalize any adoption. Per the state of Colorado, the adopter is legally considered a foster until the dog is neutered.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.

Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.
