Meet Willow

Meet Willow. She is definitely a special needs candidate and we are hoping we can find the right fit for her!!!!
Willow will be two in December. She is a 65 pound spayed Catahoula Cur that is DEAF. In addition to Willow being completely Deaf, the trainers that have evaluated her seem to think she has issues with her peripheral vision. Vet cannot gauge her sight- they just gauge her eye health and whether or not her pupils respond to light which they do!
She is currently in a home that is willing to foster her until the perfect home comes along but they do not feel like they are the right fit for her. Willow has resource guarding over her food and her toys which can lead to disagreements with the other pooch in her current home. This is one of the reasons the couple are thinking of placing her in a different setting. They honestly feel like it would be better for Willow so she would not feel the need to resource guard.
She loves the outdoors and loves being by your side as she explores. Things scare her which is to be expected being Deaf. She really enjoys playing but she also really enjoys lounging around and being lazy too. The couple who currently have her say that she has medium energy levels and loves flirt pole and fetch as long as the ball is a fair sized ball so she can easily see where it drops.
We think that Willow needs a home without children and quiet meaning not a lot of new activity in and out of the home. She gets worked up easily and then its hard for her to come down for her anxiety. Her current home has a behaviorist assisting them and they have recently started her on anxiety meds so never the less, they are trying to accommodate this special needs gal in every possible way. Even through all of her issues and quirks, they love her and they are trying to provide her the best life. They just want more for her which is why we are posting her for adoption. They have taught her a handful of sing language and one on one Willow is amazing, however their other dog seems to be a trigger for Willow. She is around cats and has shown very little interest in them at all.
If you think you have the experience, the appropriate home setting and the time to provide to Willow, please email us at LongJ1003@aol.com for more information. Family will provide all medical records along with Willow's training plan from their behaviorist. Thank you for concerning adopting a special needs dog!
