WASABI is the cutest 1yr old Labrador Retriever mix. He weighs 40 lbs. Wasabi came to us 3wks ago after the one person he trusted in the world loaded him and his dog siblings up in the car, and drove them to an abandoned house and dumped them and drove away.
Wasabi sat on the porch for 5 days waiting for her to return, but she never did. He was saved, with his dog siblings, by Animal Services. When he first came to the shelter no one could touch him. He was scared, and confused. Everything he has ever known was gone.
The volunteers at the shelter sat with Wasabi in his kennel to earn his trust and help him feel safe. It didn’t take long at all for Wasabi to know these crazy dog ladies loved him, and wouldn’t give up on him.
Wasabi is a sensitive boy. He has trust issues at first, but bonds to his people very quickly. He is a silly boy who loves to be held, loves toys, loves soft blankets, and just wants to be close to his people. He is crate trained, potty trained and doesn’t tear up his toys. Wasabi has been through so much and all he wants is someone to give him a chance, love him, and not dump him like trash.
ADOPTING A PET
We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend. We are also open Monday through Friday by appointment. Please contact us by phone at 913-321-1445 or by email at petadoptions@kckpd.org to schedule your appointment during weekdays.
If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match.
Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older).
