Meet WALLY

Meet Wally. He is a 6 month old Mini Poodle/Cavalier King Charles intentional mix. He weighs about 20 pounds. He came to us from a commercial breeder who couldn't sell him because he has a hernia which will be removed when he is neutered. Wally is still a bit reserved and shy but is really starting to gain confidence. He is a very sweet puppy that likes to cuddle and LOVES to play. He goes in and out with the other dogs, is reliable in the house as long as he's let out several times per day... he's still a puppy! Wally sleeps quietly in bed or a crate and travels like a perfect gentleman in the car. Wally is learning to walk on a leash but does best if he is with another dog.

Wally pulls his blankie around and chews on No Hides Natural Chews from Earth Animal. He is not destructive but he needs something healthy to gnaw on. He LOVES to wrestle with his foster sister and will walk on a lead when another dog is with him. Wally IS A PUPPY and you must have the time to dedicate to his puppy enthusiasm and curiosity. He needs direction, attention, activity and a whole lot of love. He needs to know what is accepted behavior and what is not. He needs a loving, calm, positive reinforcement home!

The right home for Wally is a home where some one is working from home where a dog is allowed in the work space, working very part time (a few hours a day) or is retired. Leaving a puppy for long periods of time, crated and without stimulation, is unfair and the results are not often the best. He must have another playful, friendly dog in the home to emulate. Wally needs a fenced area or yard that is attached to the living area of the home, where he can safely run and play, bask in the sun and chew his raw hides.
Star-Mar Rescue is a natural care provider. We feed a species appropriate, balanced, raw diet-- a true raw grind, frozen or freeze dried. We use no chemical "preventatives", minimally vaccinate and use no chemicals on our yards or in our homes (natural laundry detergent, no dryer sheets and natural cleaners). We believe in protection without harm. We follow Dr. Hart's 35 year study from UC Davis for appropriate spay/neuter age. Wally can be neutered at 11 months. This will greatly reduce his chances of cancer and joint disease, CCL tears and allow his pituitary gland, adrenal gland and lump system to fully mature before removing those necessary hormones. We adopt to people who are already following this level of care or who are eager to learn and commit.

Please go to Star-Mar Rescue Natural Care FB page and click on "MORE" under the pictures at the top of the page, then click on "VIDEOS". There is a 7 part video series called The Truth About Pet Cancer. Video 3 and 7 are missing and will be reloaded soon. It will help you to understand what we do and why we do it. The vets, nutritionists and researchers are the very top in their field. You can also scroll through the FB page and read some of the articles there. If this is not a practice that you are already following we will expect that you will have a lot of questions. We are happy to discuss this with you.

We adopt within a 2 hour driving distance from Akron, OH. This includes both the Cleveland and the Columbus area. We ask that you first come to visit the dog. We then do a home visit where we bring the dog to your home. After introducing Wally to the home, yard and other animals, we will leave him there for about an hour and then pick him up and take him back to his foster home. If the adoption goes forward the adopters will come to the foster home to complete the adoption. We're found this to be the most respectful way to transition a dog. When they leave us they are going somewhere they have already been with someone they already know.

Feel free to call Martha at 330-466-3667 or email at learymjri@aol.com if you need an application or more information. Filling out the petfinder info form that comes to me really doesn't do much for the potential adopter or for us.
