Uno German Shepherd Dog Hood River, OR

Poor Uno has had a really rough start to life. At some point in his short life he was likely hit by a car, and has had a fractured leg for months at this point. LUCKILY we have one of the best Orthopedic Surgeons right here in our little town, Dr. Steven Petersen of Veterinary Surgery and Sports Medicine of the Gorge, has agreed to do surgery for Uno for next to nothing. Uno requires a very serious surgery, because of the multiple fractures and the fact that he never received treatment for his fractures, the best course of action is to amputate the unusable leg. Dr. Petersen has thoroughly evaluated Uno and given him the green light to be a happy dog minus a leg. All of his other joints appear to be in great condition.
We have spent a lot of time with Uno and he is a lovely boy, he is a typical "teenage" dog who always wants to be doing something and will wander off if he is bored, but he loves all people and has been doing great meeting all of our volunteers at the shelter. He loves to go for his daily walks and lounges in his big enclosure in the office for the rest of the day.
Uno will have his surgery very soon and then need a comfy, calm and quiet place to recuperate. We are hoping to find someone who would be willing to do this locally. We feel Uno would need to start off in a home with no other animals while he is recovering. It is imperative that he remains quiet and is allowed to heal.
